Pam Stegora Axberg
Pam Stegora Axberg was a senior executive at United Healthcare for over 14 years, most recently serving as a a Senior Vice President Network Operations where she took a leadership role in transforming interactions with healthcare systems. She held a multitude of executive leadership roles since joining the company in 2005 including COO Optum Behavioral Health and COO Medicaid. She successfully renegotiated two strategic partnerships. She led the transformation of the training organization, which supported 25,000 worldwide employees, to diversity delivery techniques, integrate technology and improve the efficacy to employees. She led the Medicaid operations. As a culture facilitator, she has led over 40 cultural workshops for over 1400 employees.
Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, she spent 20 years at Qwest Communications / U S WEST where she was a Senior Vice President and Officer. While at Qwest Communications she held numerous executive positions in Operations, Engineering, Customer Service and Product Development in their data, voice and wireless organizations. She led national field and center operations with organizations exceeding 5000 bargained for and non-bargained for employees. She was part of the service transformation which enabling entry into the long-distance market and movement from last to best in industry service benchmarks.
Pam has received a variety of awards for her accomplishments including her most recent award by the Women’s Health Leadership Trust as the 2019 Mentor of the Year. Her professional activities include Steering Committee Chair for the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council (NRIC) VI, which is the advisory committee to the FCC. She chaired the Minnesota Pluralism Council and was the President of the Minnesota Chapter of U S WEST Women. She has been a champion on diversity, equity and inclusion in both her volunteer and professional career. She is a YWCA Racial Justice Facilitator and Girl Scout Co-chair Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Task Force.
In addition to her corporate leadership roles, Pam is an advocated for the development of girls and women’s leadership. Pam serves on the YWCA USA Board of Directors as Treasurer, was board chair of the YWCA Minneapolis. For over a decade, she has been the troop leader of Girl Scout Troop 50948 is a Board Officer (2nd Vice Chair) for Girl Scouts River Valley. She is also a member on the Women Business Leaders in Healthcare Advisory Board. Since 2015, she has been a Director for Topline Credit Union.
Pam is an entrepreneur, co-founder and owner of two small businesses: Minnesota ATV Tours, which specializes in personalized guided ATV tours, and Axberg Holdings, a residential rental property LLC.
Pam currently is serving her second term on the New Brighton Park, Recreation, and Environment Commission (PREC) and is their current chair.
Stegora Axberg earned her BA in mathematics at St. Catherine University and her Masters in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She is a Humphrey Public Policy Fellow with four adult children. She and her husband make their home in New Brighton, Minnesota. Together they enjoy time at the cabin and training for the YWCA’s Triathlon. She is a blue-ribbon winner at the Minnesota State Fair for her family perogies.
